Meet the Malvern Dermatology Team.

Dr Emma Haverhoek, Dermatologist


Dermatologist, Malvern Dermatology. Visiting Medical Specialist, Royal Adelaide Hospital. Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Dr Emma Haverhoek is an experienced Adelaide-trained dermatologist, having pursued her interest in this field since completing medical school in 2000. Her areas of expertise include both medical and surgical dermatology, as well as women’s and paediatric dermatological conditions. Other interests include but are not limited to; acne management, hair loss disorders and diagnosing and treating skin cancers. At Malvern Dermatology she is able to offer both dermatologic surgery where required plus other procedures such as botox injections for excessive axillary sweating.

Emma has just completed her 4 year tenure as the SA State examiner for dermatology but is still involved with teaching and training  of dermatology registrars both in public at the RAH and in private at our rooms. She was on the editorial expert committee of “Therapeutic Guidelines – Dermatology” volume 4 published in 2016, and has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals.

Emma is married to Pieter and they have two young daughters. Her spare time is filled with catching up with family and friends, as well as pilates, tennis and hiking.

Dr Rachel Manifold, Dermatologist


Dr Rachel Manifold is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.

Dr Manifold completed her undergraduate medical degree from the University of Adelaide in 1997. Moving to Sydney in 1998, Dr Manifold researched photodynamic therapy, a type of treatment for skin cancer and was awarded a Master of Science (Medicine) from the University of New South Wales in 2003. At the same time Dr Manifold trained as as an anatomical pathologist. Dr Manifold trained and practiced as an anatomical pathologist at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney), Royal Melbourne Hospital (Melbourne) and the Flinders Medical Centre (Adelaide)

Dr Manifold commenced training in dermatology in 2007 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2012. Since 2012, Dr Manifold has worked as a consultant dermatologist in private practiceand Rachel is also involved in the training and teaching of dermatology registrars in her roles as a Visiting Medical Officer to Flinders Medical Centre and the current Director of Training in SA. Dr Manifold’s interests are general dermatology, paediatric dermatology and surgical dermatology. Dr Manifold is also involved in teaching dermatology registrars, junior doctors and medical students.

Dr Manifold is a keen sportswoman, a love which was fostered by growing up in a small country town on the Eyre Peninsula. Dr Manifold and her husband have three young daughters who keep them busy. Spending time with family and friends and pursuing a healthy, active lifestyle is what motivates Dr Manifold and she is keen to bring this holistic approach to her work as a dermatologist.

Dr Fiona Menz, Dermatologist


Dr Menz is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists with an interest in all areas of dermatology including skin cancer, medical dermatology (eczema, psoriasis, acne etc), paediatric dermatology and women’s health. She provides dedicated care to her patients and excellent communication with referring practitioners.

During her dermatology training she has worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, The Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Royal Darwin Hospital and rural Northern Territory.

She has presented academic papers both in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology and at the Australasian College of Dermatologist’s Annual Scientific Meetings. She is a current primary reviewer of the dermatology chapter of the Therapeutic Guidelines.

Prior to dermatology training she completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide achieving the Sir Trent Champion de Crespigny Memorial Prize (dux of final clinical examinations) and a Master of Public Health (with distinction) with the University of Newcastle.

Dr Aakriti Gupta, Dermatologist


Dr. Gupta graduated from the University of Adelaide with the University Medal for highest overall performance in Medicine. She subsequently undertook specialty dermatology training in Adelaide, completing rotations in all of South Australia’s major teaching hospitals. During her training she was awarded a Travelling Fellowship to complete a year of her training in Oxford, UK.

As well as practicing all aspects of medical and procedural dermatology, she has a particular interest in skin cancer, laser dermatology and hair disorders. She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals for cutaneous oncology and medical education. Dr Gupta has also been awarded prizes by the Royal Society of Medicine and the British Society for Medical Dermatology for her research presentations in London.

Dr Gupta has co-authored book chapters pertaining to the use of botulinum toxin in Dermatology and aesthetic facial assessment and has both chaired and presented at Australian conference sessions on cosmetic dermatology.

She is currently a Board Member of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists.

Dr Gupta takes great pride in her work and is committed to offering the highest quality clinical service to her patients. 

Malvern Dermatology is a clinic that takes pride in delivering high quality dermatology support services and facilities for the above dermatologists. Malvern Dermatology as a service provides for the above dermatologists. The Dermatologists practice individually of other dermatologists, they are not employees of Malvern Dermatology, but contractors and may all practice in another location/facility outside of Malvern Dermatology. Malvern Dermatology is responsible however, for the booking, paperwork and billing for each dermatologist. Malvern Dermatology is not responsible for the medical decisions, medical practice or treatment plans initiated by the individual dermatologists.     

Support Staff.

Dr Rachel Manifold, Dr Emma Haverhoek Dr Fiona Menz and Dr Aakriti Gupta are keenly supported by an experienced nursing and administration team.

Merryn is Malvern Dermatology’s Practice Manager, and she has a career spanning over 30 years in administration in the healthcare industry. She leads the administration team by encouraging them to contribute to the vision and values of the Practice and her leadership. The reception team includes Linda, Sue, Lauren and Anna.

Virginia is the Clinical Nurse Manager who has gained great expertise working in GP and specialist rooms with a keen interest in dermatology. She oversees and mentors the nursing staff which include our enrolled nurses Karen and Katya. Katya has expertise in laser and injectables and is available for cosmetic consultation.
